If you are looking for a fun family movie in honor of Father’s Day, check out The Game Plan! We really had our doubts about this one….the trailers made it look awful. I remember my kid’s wanting to see it when it was out in theatres and we passed. The concept seemed pretty over done…..football jerk doesn’t know he has a kid, kid shows up, hilarity ensues……and it starred Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson…..there was no way I was going to spend $50 taking my kids to see THAT!
Well we were WAY OFF! Dwayne Johnson was surprisingly GOOD! I know! I can’t believe I am saying it either! But he was very believable and very funny. The girl that played his daughter was darling and quite believable and charming. Best of all, the story line was good, kept things moving at a brisk pace and wasn’t too “sappy” as sometimes these “long lost kid/parent” films can become. It looks like the Disney machine hit a home run with this film! The only thing I would have liked were more laughs for the adults but it is billed as a kid’s movie and mine enjoyed it.
I give The Game Plan a B+. Check it out and be sure to watch it with dad…or your own kids!
